What a joy it was to share Kristin and Matt’s day with them, and to capture their journey to becoming Mr. and Mrs. Hauser! Splendid fall colors, a stunning venue, DIY details, and a Star Wars-themed cake—this is my kinda couple, and every moment of their celebration was bursting with love so clear to see. It was impossible not to fall in love with this idyllic fall wedding at the Legacy on Eighteenmile Creek in Buffalo!

Kristin + Matt’s Wedding at the Legacy on Eighteenmile Creek

The sweetest origin story in Maryland

Ever since they met in Maryland, where they both moved for their very first teaching jobs, Kristin and Matt have been inseparable. Connected by a mutual friend, the two started spending time together and soon realized they shared a deep love for Buffalo (specifically, the delicious food—who could blame them?), so it was only right that Buffalo would be where they eventually tied the knot. They fell in love after spending lazy days together and having date nights out on the weekends, finding that they could truly be themselves around each other, and the rest was history!

An idyllic fall wedding color palette

Fast forward to this stunning late fall day in Buffalo, where Kristin and Matt would finally become husband and wife, and that I was lucky enough to be able to attend. The soon-to-be newlyweds opted for a subtle fall color palette to match the changing colors of the breathtaking Buffalo landscapes, marked by a combination of deep navy and pumpkin orange that called attention to the beauty of the season around them. Simultaneously vibrant and moody, bright and gloomy in all the best ways, the autumn atmosphere fostered such a warm, inviting environment for every guest to enjoy from morning till evening. The contrast of the vivid oranges with the dark blues, and the lively colors of October with the cloudy gray of the skies was so stark and beautiful—Kristin and Matt did an amazing job envisioning this magical fall aesthetic for their day!

An emotional day surrounded by loved ones

This day was filled with emotional moments right from the jump, with Kristin and Matt each getting ready in the suites at the Legacy surrounded by those they loved. Photographing getting ready moments like these is always one of my favorite parts of wedding days, as they’re the moments where you get to feel so much love from your closest friends and family; where the anticipation of a long-awaited day finally boils over the edge. It was easy to document such a gorgeous group of ladies in Kristin’s getting ready room as they helped her with final touches (after she had done her own makeup!) before buttoning up her breathtaking gown. Matt was having just as much fun over in a separate suite with his guys as they watched football, listened to some great jams, and even traded Pokemon cards—yes, Pokemon cards! So fun, unique, and personal, I loved it! One of my favorite parts of Matt’s outfit was his watch, which was actually custom-engraved on the inside with their wedding date.

The rest of the day was SO much fun to document, from Kristin and Matt’s private (and very emotional) first look, to their dreamy newlywed photos, to their stunning ceremony among the colorful trees. Matt got so emotional over Kristin throughout the day, seeing his beautiful bride in her gown and finally getting to make her his wife; it was so sweet to watch! In an absolutely ICONIC moment later in the night once it was time for their reception, they both changed into bride and groom Crocs—ummm I need every couple to get a pair of these ASAP! I’m now convinced that every couple also needs a themed cake with a custom topper of their dog, just like Kristin and Matt had a Star Wars cake with their pup Zara on the side. The freaking cutest. Their private cake cutting + poppin’ dance floor was the perfect end to such a special day!
